Getting Started

Your First Visit

Designing Your Healthy and Beautiful Smile

Complimentary Consultation

We understand choosing to receive orthodontic care is a BIG decision, so our new patient exam is thorough and informative with plenty of time to ask questions and no pressure to make a quick decision! We treat ages 5 and up, and offer a variety of custom treatment options.

Before Your First Visit

Once you schedule your first appointment, we ask that you complete your new patient paperwork. This will give us time to review your health history and contact your insurance to determine your benefits. Also, if you are past due for a dental cleaning and exam, visit your dentist. We can safely move only healthy teeth!

At Your First Visit

The initial consultation with Dr. P is a chance to meet our doctor and team, receive an initial exam with records and discuss which treatment options will best fit your needs. Expect an in-depth analysis with innovative solutions from our highly-rated orthodontist. We will discuss financial information, insurance options and payment plans.

After the Initial Consultation

We will send letters to you and your dentist summarizing the treatment options. If treatment is recommended, you can get started the same day! We understand everyone is busy so we do our best to make orthodontics as convenient as possible. If you prefer to come back, we will schedule a convenient time. If you need time to think about it, we totally understand this is a big decision. We aren’t going anywhere so we will be ready to move forward when you are!

Financial and Insurance Information

We strive to provide affordable, high-quality treatment that fits within your budget. The cost of treatment will vary depending on your individual needs and treatment plan, which is why finances are discussed after your complimentary exam. Most individuals are pleasantly surprised when they find out how affordable we make orthodontic treatment. We also offer sibling and parent discounts!

Payment Options

  • We accept VISA, Mastercard, Discover, AMEX, and debit cards, as well as bank drafts.

  • We accept and help you maximize your flexible spending accounts (FSA) and health savings accounts (HSA)

Financial Arrangements

  • Interest-Free Financing – we offer patients the option to make low monthly payments at no interest and with no financing fees. A small down payment will be collected at the initiation of treatment with the remainder broken into affordable monthly payments

  • Pay in Full – pay your balance in full at the beginning of treatment and receive a discount!

Insurance

  • We accept ALL private dental and orthodontic insurance plans. We do not accept Medicaid.

  • We are IN-NETWORK with most insurances as well including Aetna, Ameritas, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Careington, Cigna, Delta Dental, Dentamax, GEHA, Guardian, Humana, Metlife, Principal, United Concordia and more!

  • Most orthodontic policies cover 50% of the cost, up to a specified lifetime maximum set by each insurance company. We will determine the estimated extent of your coverage based on the insurance information you provide in your new patient paperwork.

  • We handle all the necessary steps for orthodontic insurance during treatment including verifying and filing to ensure you receive your maximum benefit!

  • If your benefits change during the course of treatment, the financially responsible party is accountable for all charges.

Why ‘By Age 7’

There are certain orthodontic conditions that significantly benefit from early orthodontic intervention and not all of them will be readily apparent to you or to even your dentist! The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends that all children have a check-up with an orthodontic specialist no later than age 7. DON’T STRESS Mom and Dad! Most kids do not need any early treatment and we will see them every 1 to 2 years to monitor growth and development until the permanent teeth erupt. For those that would benefit from early intervention, there are a variety of treatment techniques besides braces.

Reasons for The Exam

  • The bite is established when the permanent first molars erupt around age 6 so we can detect crossbites and functional shifts

  • Permanent incisors have begun to erupt so we can better detect crowding, oral habits and other bite issues

  • Timely intervention can have significant treatment benefits

  • Peace of mind for parents and easy office introductions for kids

Problems That Benefit from Early Intervention

  • Crossbites

  • Crowding

  • Open Bite

  • Deep Bite

  • Protrusion

  • Ectopic eruption

  • Underbite

  • Oral habits and thumb sucking

  • Early loss of baby teeth

  • Narrow arches
