Damon Metal Braces

DAMON METAL BRACES

Metal braces are a highly effective option to correct a wide range of orthodontic issues. We use Damon Metal self-ligating brackets, an innovative and premium bracket that provides a great patient experience. Self-ligating means that the bracket has a door that opens and closes. As a result, we do not need to use elastic ties to hold the wire which improves hygiene. Additionally, self-ligation technology also allows us to have fewer appointments since the wire stays active for longer. The bracket is also low-profile, making it more comfortable for your cheeks and lips.

DAMON CLEAR BRACES

Clear braces work exactly the same as metal braces, except the material is a clear ceramic, making the braces much less noticeable. We use Damon Clear brackets which have the same self-ligating technology as Damon Metal Braces and include all the same benefits. The ceramic material does not discolor like composite clear brackets did in the past so this is a great option for adults or esthetic-conscious teens.

INVISALIGN AND SPARK ALIGNERS

Aligners are a great option for many of our adult and teen patients! Aligners are a series of computer and doctor-generated clear plastic trays that gradually move your teeth to the desired position. Typically, a set of trays is worn one week at a time and you have periodic visits at the office to confirm the teeth are moving as expected. Aligners provide some very nice benefits for our patients. They are discreet since the tray is nearly invisible. Additionally, since they are removed while eating, no ‘foods to avoid’ exist. Lastly, it is much less time intensive to maintain good oral hygiene since they can be removed when brushing. Just remember, they don’t work if they aren’t worn! You need to have them in 20-22 hrs/day! We offer Invisalign and Spark aligners. We will discuss the pros and cons of the different systems at your new patient appointment.

itero

iTERO SCANNER

No more goop or gagging! We use a digital scanner to take a highly accurate digital impression of your teeth and jaws. This amazing technology got rid of what was probably the least pleasant part of orthodontic treatment – impressions. Digital impressions give us the ability to see your teeth instantly in 3D, improving communication and treatment planning. The iTero uses optical technology through a hand-held wand. The scan Is radiation-free and is done in 2-3 minutes! We use the scan for treatment planning and fabricating appliances and Spark and Invisalign aligners.

3D Printer

3D PRINTER

As an engineer, the 3D printer is one of Dr. Pittman’s favorite toys. In addition to ‘minting’ our gear-shaped pennies and nickels for our patient rewards program, the 3D printer makes models we use to fabricate retainers. This allows us to quickly make retainers as needed and be a truly ‘impression-free’ office.

Whitening

WHITENING

We offer cost-effective home whitening kits that can be used with your retainers. Braces patients can whiten at the end of treatment. Aligner patients can whiten anytime!

Retainers

RETAINERS

Retainers are an ESSENTIAL part of orthodontic treatment, as most of our second-round adult patients will tell you. They are especially important immediately after treatment since the surrounding gums, bones, and muscles must adjust to the new position of teeth. Additionally, soft tissue forces change with age and teeth slowly shift. We recommend ‘nighttime for lifetime’ retainer wear to ensure the teeth stay where we put them! If your retainer breaks or goes missing, getting replacement retainers is much cheaper and easier than letting your teeth shift!

Expanders

EXPANDERS

A palatal expander widens the upper jaw by putting gentle pressure on the upper molars. This can correct crossbites and create space for permanent teeth. Additionally, it may decrease sleep-disordered breathing by improving the position of the tongue. Expanders are most effective on younger patients.

Soft Tissue Laser

SOFT-TISSUE LASER

We use a diode laser for a variety of periodontal surgeries. Our favorite is gum recontouring, where we can correct uneven gum lines, reduce thick gum tissue or improve gummy smiles. We also perform frenectomies to address a low maxillary anterior that causes a diastema. With a diode laser, often we just need topical anesthetic and there are no stitches so recovery is a breeze!

MORE (Jaw Surgery, Tads, Habit, Mouthpiece, Nightguard, Impacted Tooth)

  • Jaw Surgery – For severe jaw misalignment, asymmetries, or deformities, orthognathic surgery is a great option. Surgery is performed in conjunction with orthodontic treatment. It may involve repositioning the upper and lower jaws, reshaping the chin or cheekbones, or correcting a cleft palate. We will advise if you would benefit from jaw surgery and refer you to an oral surgeon for the procedure.

  • Habit Appliance – we offer removable and fixed habit appliances to help stop a pesky thumb habit. Oral habits can cause severe orthodontic problems if not addressed by the time the permanent teeth erupt around age 6.

  • Mouthguards and nightguards – we offer a variety of protective and retentive oral appliances
